Just a couple of guidelines to make this Community Blog a great place to share your best blogging practices:

1.  Play nice! This community blog is of the readers, by the readers, and for the readers; therefore, I have no plans to police your posts for language that some might consider offensive (otherwise known as “swearing” or “cussing”, depending on where you’re from).  I’m going to assume that we’re all adults and can skip over the words we don’t like.  That said, posts that express intolerance for others based on race, religion, political affiliation, nationality, gender, sexual orientation or any other arbitrary identifier will be permanently deleted and your membership will be immediately revoked, no questions asked.

2.  Only original content allowed. The community appreciates your efforts in sharing your expertise, and you retain all rights to the posts you write here.  Please post only items that are your own original content, exclusively written for this blog.  Any posts found elsewhere on the internet will be removed from this blog.  And, while we’re on the topic of content…

3.  Stick to content about blogging. The mission of this blog is to be a resource for bloggers, whether new or seasoned, about all things blogging.  Are you picking up on a theme here?  Think of it as an open-source version of Copyblogger; readers will come here to learn about creating great content, making their blogs search engine-friendly, strategies for marketing their blogs…you get the idea.  Please keep your posts on topic.

4.  Regarding SEO. I have installed the All-In-One SEO Pack on this blog.  If you want to take a crack at filling in the title, description and tags for your posts, that would save me a lot of effort and I’d heartily thank you for it.  At the same time, I may exercise my right to modify some of these items for the overall benefit of the blog.  Thanks for understanding.  And if you don’t want to mess with that piece, no worries; I’ll take care of it.

5.  Regarding grammar, spelling and punctuation. I’m a bit of a fanatic when it comes to things like spelling, punctuation, grammar, and sentence structure.  I totally understand typos and fat-fingering, but we want to deliver a high-quality product here, right?  So pay attention to how you write.  I’ll do minor clean-up, but if it’s too much of a mess, I’ll shoot you an email and ask you to work on it a bit more before publishing. Sound like a plan?

6.  Have fun! Remember that blogging is supposed to be fun.  We’re in this for the bliss, right?  So don’t take yourself too seriously; be willing to cut loose and just say what’s on your mind.  Think of this as the Burning Man of blogging: radical inclusion and radical self-expression are the tenets we live by, and we ask that you do the same while you’re here.

So, are you ready to have a little fun?  Great!  Click on the big link above, register as a contributor, and get that first post ready for review!

Thanks!

P.S.  It wouldn’t be a bad idea to send an email to jerry@jerrykennedy.com when a post is ready for review, just to let me know it’s there.  For some reason, WordPress doesn’t do that automatically.  Go figure…
